Author Instructions
This guide ensures your submission meets all editorial, ethical, and machine-readable metadata requirements that are critical for indexing and global discoverability.
Scope & Language
Journals: UARJAHSS (Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences) and UARJMS (Multidisciplinary).
Language: English. Non-English only by prior approval with English translation.
Article Types (Recommended Lengths)
- Original Research: No Limits
- Review: ≤10,000 words
- Short Communication: ≤2,000 words
- Case Report / Case Study: 1,500–4,000 words
- Editorial / Commentary: 800–1,500 words
Files Required at Submission
Provide separate files, named clearly as JOURNAL_SHORTTITLE_FileType.
Title page (DOCX/PDF)
Full names, affiliations, ORCID links, funding, word/figure/table count.
Blinded manuscript (DOCX)
Remove all identifying information for double-blind review.
Cover letter (DOCX/PDF)
Novelty summary, suggested reviewers (optional), exclusions, COI.
Abstract & highlights (DOCX)
Abstract (150–350 words) + 3–5 highlights.
Figures (high-res files)
TIFF/PNG/PDF/EPS; separate files; labeled Fig1.tif etc.; include alt text in caption list.
Tables (DOCX/XLSX)
Editable tables; upload large datasets separately.
Supplementary files (ZIP)
Raw data, code, instruments; include README + license.
Ethics & permissions (PDF)
IRB approvals, consent forms, permissions for reproduced material.
Graphical abstract (optional)
JPG/PNG 1200×628 px.
Manuscript Formatting
Following these guidelines helps automated systems index your work correctly.
Layout
A4, 12-pt font, 1.5 line spacing, continuous line numbers, page numbers.
Headings
Numbered hierarchy (1, 1.1, 1.1.1). This helps automated parsers.
Abstract
Structured (Background; Methods; Results; Conclusion). 150–350 words.
Keywords
3–6 keywords; include subject headings/MeSH where relevant.
References
APA 7th by default; include DOIs.
Units
SI units; define abbreviations at first use.
Authorship, contributions & identifiers
- Authorship criteria: Follow ICMJE or discipline standards.
- CRediT taxonomy: Provide author contributions (e.g., Conceptualization; Data curation; Writing — original draft).
- ORCID: Required for the corresponding author; strongly encouraged for all authors. Use full ORCID URL.
- Affiliations: Full institution, department, city, country; include corresponding author email.
Ethics, conflicts & clinical research
- Ethical approval: Required for human/animal studies — provide committee name, approval number and date.
- Informed consent: State and provide forms if required.
- Clinical trials: Provide registry name and registration number (prospective registration preferred).
- Conflicts of interest: Mandatory declaration (financial and non-financial).
Data & reproducibility (indexer critical)
- Data Availability Statement (DAS): Mandatory. State repository, DOI/persistent identifier, or access restriction and request procedure.
- Repositories: Recommend Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad, OSF, domain repositories.
- Code & reproducibility: Deposit code in GitHub + DOI via Zenodo; include environment details (software versions, OS, random seeds).
Preprints & prior posting
Allowed. Disclose preprint server and DOI/URL in the cover letter and submission form. Preprints do not preclude review.
Plagiarism & similarity screening
- All submissions screened with iThenticate/Turnitin.
- Target similarity: <15% (excluding references and standard methods text). Higher similarity requires explanation and justification.
Licensing, copyright & APCs
- Default license: CC BY 4.0 (favored by funders and indexers).
- Copyright: Authors retain copyright; grant UAR Publisher license to publish.
- APCs: Charged only after acceptance; waiver policy available — criteria on APCs & Waiver page.
